A Green Future is a Prosperous Future

We’re always keeping our blog up to date with our latest company updates and helpful information for both businesses and people looking to get into work. Feel free to check out some of our other updates or get in touch if we can help in any way.

Today is Earth Day! An annual event created to celebrate the planet’s environment and raise public awareness around the growing concerns of climate change and the need for sustainability. The day, marked every year on April 22, is observed worldwide with rallies, conferences, outdoor activities, and service projects. It’s an important day for people to take time out of their busy lives to consider the impact that humanity has on the environment and for taking steps to minimise these impacts.

In doing so, we can all strive to live happier and healthier lives in tune with nature. While it would be nice if we all lived every day as if it was Earth Day, this holiday serves as a friendly reminder each year, to respect the Earth and to show gratitude to Mother Nature.

This year’s theme is centred around how to better invest in our Planet so in honour of doing so, we decided to explore what we do at RE:geon Training to invest in and improve the world around us.

A huge part of our investment in our planet comes through the prioritisation of Green Growth skills and the launch of our new Lean with Green Programme. For those of you who haven’t heard of Lean with Green, here’s everything you need to know:

Getting the Low down on Lean with Green

In June 2019, the UK became the first major country to legislate for a net-zero target for carbon emissions by 2050. What this means to businesses is they’re required to reduce our carbon emissions as a collective to help achieve the Net Zero target.

But, just 3 years in, research is already showing that a staggering one in five businesses don’t fully understand the term ‘Net Zero’. What’s more? Almost a third have yet to seek advice to help them develop a sufficient Net Zero roadmap or improve their environmental sustainability. Whether that be because they don’t feel it applies to them or because 2050 simply seems too far way.

As a business owner, taking responsibility to embody sustainable practices NOW by eliminating waste and reducing your carbon footprint is good for 3 things: your People, your Planet and your Profits.

Embodying sustainable practices is one of the best things you can get behind in the corporate space yet there is still such a lag when it comes to business engagement. That’s why we decided to develop a new sustainability qualification to help businesses just like yours better educate and upskill their teams on how you, as a collective, can reduce waste in the workplace and minimise your carbon footprint as a whole. Now when we say waste, we aren’t just talking rubbish!

Our programme is FULLY FUNDED and a FIRST OF IT’S KIND. It takes the current challenges of climate change and environmental waste, wrapping it around lean principles that we know first-hand have an excellent succession rate. What this creates is a business toolkit which is 100% effective in supporting businesses of any size and sector in their transition journey to Net Zero. Something which is wholly unique to us (and wholly unique you by default).

So, what’s the impact on your business we hear you ask?

Well, besides the feel-good factor of being an environmental crusader, your business will also benefit from:

1. Increased Brand Awareness
Once you share your learnings and motivators with your clients, customers, and stakeholders alike, they’ll start leaning in with green too, and the kind of green we’re talking about will be sure to line your pockets!

2. Development of your Team
Our Lean with Green course will also give you the opportunity to provide continued professional development for your team. Upskilling them in ways never considered before. In doing so you can be sure to see a rise in employee productivity levels, having enabled them time and flexibility out of their day to learn new skills. Empowering them to make a bigger impact on the company as a whole.

3. A New Sustainability Strategy
Every employee will have the opportunity to create a bespoke sustainability project specific to their job role. Something which can be applied as soon as they step back into the workplace. Allowing you to see sustainability benefits from a multitude of viewpoints. Testament to the fact that this qualification is far more than just theory!

4. Decreased Utility Bills
Having increased awareness on how to become more energy efficient will undoubtedly make you and your team savvier for identifying what energy saving measures can be placed within your business. Given the current fear we are all experiencing over rising energy costs, getting clued up now couldn’t be more important. What’s more, by supplementing the knowledge you gain on our course with the experience of honest, North East based energy brokers like Fusion for Business, you’ll be sure to bag a considerable saving that not only benefits you now but for the future!

Our Lean with Green can be delivered flexibly on your site over 6.5 days 09:30-16:00 (lunch break included). Participants will also have access to our learning platform which has a range of interactive online resources to further benefit from.

Along with this delivery, we will provide all course attendees with a work-based project to allow them to assess their own job role, carry out research on efficiency and waste management techniques.
