As you may be aware RE:geon is an innovative training provider who RE:GEN Group invested in earlier this year. Over the last few months we have been working closely with the team at RE:GEN to design and develop a range of recruitment and training solutions to better serve RE:GEN Group as well as their wider supply chain. The aim? To ensure that as a collective we can meet the demands of the industry, as well as fulfilling some of the most niche skill sets emerging.

So what is the Route 2 Retrofit Programme and how will it benefit you?

The Route 2 Retrofit is a training bootcamp that enables employers to attract, train and retain new entrants into their business. It has been co-designed with RE:GEN Group and SMEs from their supply chain to address the challenges and barriers an employer faces when trying to bring the right people with the right skills into the sector. This bootcamp is specifically geared towards unemployed candidates, giving them all of the necessary knowledge and skills required to enter the build environment with a strong understanding of Domestic Retrofit.

What happens next? 

Carefully selected learners complete an intense period of training covering climate change, understating retrofit and then specific installers/installation knowledge and skills development. The retrofit trades within this bootcamp are all of the trades that are currently in demand to allow the Net Zero targets to be achieved I.e cavity wall insulation and extraction, room in roof, external wall insulation etc. The candidates will gain a placement with an employer and at the end of the programme they present what they have learned back to the employer prior to sitting down for an interview.

This bootcamp significantly supports the North East requirements for the retrofit installers skills gap but also completely allows the retrofit funding holders and supply chain to continue their growth, which at present, they are all at capacity due to staffing.

What’s included? 

The programme is a blend of classroom, work based learning and onsite training, where participants will see firsthand what a retrofit project looks like and get to experience the different roles within it.

This bootcamps has 5 mandatory units and 14 standalone modules relating to the different installer roles of retrofit, so we can tailor the programme to the positions the organisations are recruiting for.

  • Apprentice Plasterer
  • Apprentice Tiler
  • 2x Multi Skill Trade Operatives
