Last week we had the pleasure of completing our latest Route 2 Retrofit Skills Bootcamp with our employer partner Fortify Solutions. We focused on providing inquisitive and enthusiastic learners with an overview of all aspects of our work, and offer them a pathway to long-term employment and development within the ever-expanding Construction sector.

Our ‘Route 2 Retrofit’ is a funded Skills Bootcamp, dedicated to developing individuals 19+ who want to take their career up a notch through higher level learning, and for businesses keen to grow or upskill their workforces in Green! You can read more about our Route 2 Retrofit here

So, who are Fortify Solutions?

Well, Fortify Solutions are a specialist Building Integrity contractor based in the North East of England providing services to local authorities, main contractors and private customers. They carry out a whole range of energy saving and external regeneration services, because they believe that people should be given the opportunity to live in efficient, safe, and well-maintained houses. Fortify came to us for pre-employment solutions as well as the upskilling of their workforce in Retrofit and Construction Green Skills. This would enable them to strengthen their operations and secure more work for the future.

What did Cohort 3 do?

Over the course of several weeks we gave candidates a mix of classroom training and onsite work experience on live Retrofit projects with Fortify to provide the learners with a clear understanding of what Domestic Retrofit is and why it is becoming increasingly important to the industry! The course included a Retrofit Qualification, Level 1 Health & Safety in Construction Environment, and stacks of added value from the bespoke modules we designed with Fortify to make it truly unique. We call this our Employer-led approach. As part of our collaboration with businesses like Fortify Solutions, they get stuck in with the design and delivery of the course from day one to ensure it perfectly taps into their business goals and growth strategy. The benefit to them is that it creates a course bespoke to their business. The benefits to YOU as a learner is that you get an insight into the industry way beyond the classroom. As well as a real in depth understanding of what Fortify seek in the ideal candidate.

The power is in the learner’s hands…

Rather than a basic hand shaking ceremony followed by a stereotypically poor selection of nibbles, we like to do things differently at RE:geon. Instead, we host a graduation on the final day of the course. Our course graduations are geared to give our learners one final employability boost before the course is out. Our last day with Cohort 3 consisted of all candidates planning and rehearsing a 10-minute presentation to present to the Fortify team. Summarising their personal highlights of the course and pitch the roles they want to apply for. It’s very important to us that the learner’s have the choice in the career paths they want to take, so we love hearing what roles caught their attention most, and hearing their elevator pitches in a bid to secure a spot!

The proof really is in the Pudding!

During the entirety of the Route 2 Retrofit programme, our learners have gained a multitude of skills and unrivalled experience working in Domestic Retrofit, something that they will carry for their entire career. They’ve had exposure to key figures within the construction world, and are now equipped with the tools and know-how to help lead the way in the Green Revolution.

As a result of their efforts, we are delighted to confirm that 5 of our 7 graduates have received successful job opportunities with Fortify Solutions, specialising in Chasing & Pointing.

The success of this cohort has been incredible! We’d like to thank Fortify Solutions as well as our wonderful Trainers for delivering yet another successful course. But, our biggest thanks goes out to our dedicated learners. These guys put 110% effort into the programme and we can’t wait to find out what happens in their career journeys next

You trusted us to put you where you wanted them to be, and for 71% of the cohort, we did just that! Here’s to the rising stars of Construction Green Skills!!

It’s been fantastic to be able to work with a like-minded business like Fortify who have a genuine passion for developing their people and who are keen to work more sustainability. We couldn’t be prouder to be working with you. So whilst it’s goodbye to Cohort 3, it’s only the beginning of their next chapter. We look forward to following our 5 successful candidates on their journeys over the coming months, just as we’ve been doing with previous Cohorts.
