Designed with one of our employer partners, this course will be delivered by ourselves at RE:GEN Academy to provide you with hands-on experience and on the job training so you can put your skills straight to the test. With an end result of gaining all relevant knowledge and training to be with the chance of progressing into a specialist role as a Plasterer.

This is a unique model that has been designed with our employers, to educate and attract vibrant talent into the sector. You will gain knowledge and qualifications in the construction and build environment. You will also be working towards gaining other
certifications that are mandatory for the construction sector.Additionally, if required, you will have the opportunity to work towards gaining your driving licence with 20 hours of FREE Driving Lessons as part of the programme.

Daily responsibilities:

This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and develop valuable skills within the sector. In this role, you’ll undergo comprehensive on the job training to learn the skills required to become a proficient Floor Laying Apprentice. The role will involve:

• Assisting the team in measuring floor space and estimating the amount of materials needed.
• Clearing away furniture and taking off doors and then putting back furniture and re-hanging doors.
• Cleaning, levelling and sealing the work area.
• Gluing or nailing underlay and floor coverings.
• Stretching carpets over spiked gripper rods and taping.
• Learning from lead hands/skilled craftsmen on how to lay all types of ‘soft’ floor-coverings

Requirements:

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Good communication skills and able to work well in a team
• Organised and possesses a high level of attention to detail
• Customer care skills
• Physical fitness
• Ability to think logically
• Hold a full UK Driving licence or, a provisional driving licence and be able to commute to Boldon.

Salary & Benefits:

• NMW for apprentices (year 1) – £6.50ph
