Ryan’s Journey with RE:GEN Academy
Ryan is a perfect example of how our Green Build Up course can change lives. After completing the 10-day course, he gained his CSCS card and essential certifications in health and safety, environmental awareness, and basic construction skills. But it didn’t stop there – Ryan’s career took off in ways he never expected. Here’s his story in his own words:
What Did You Gain from the Course?
“I gained my CSCS card, which was the main thing for me to achieve, but I also picked up my Level 1 health and safety in a construction environment, Level 1 environmental awareness and sustainability, and Level 1 in basic construction skills.”
What Were Your Opinions on the Course?
“It was the people that mainly made it for me. It was a relaxed environment to learn in, but it was also engaging, and you could have a good laugh with people. Everyone could learn at the same time.”
What Were You Doing Previously?
“I came out of college after gaining my plumbing qualifications, and I was looking to get into HVAC engineering. That was my main goal at the time, but I didn’t have much of an idea of where to start. Then I signed up for the Build Up with RE:GEN Academy, and my life has changed completely since then.”
What’s Changed?
“A lot has changed. It’s a lot to unpack. I got in contact with some subcontractors about roofing, then I created my own company, and then I was subcontracted in for companies to carry out the roofing work. Now I travel the UK, including Northampton and Ipswich, but we have work booked in for the next five years all over the country. My life has completely changed. Working on roofs, I have been directing cranes, acting as a banksman, and driving forklift trucks and scissor lifts.”
What Would You Say to Anyone Looking to Start in This Career?
“The course is 100% worth it. The world is your oyster—your only limits are what you set yourself. Being on the course has made me realise that the opportunities are out there. The tutors inspired me and opened up my mind that you can literally do anything that you apply your mind to. Anyone can do it.”
