Job Description

 Are you looking to explore a career within the Construction Sector? Then look no further. We’ve got just the opportunity for you as a Trainee Cavity Wall Extraction Operative.

Designed with our employer partner Extract North East Ltd, this course will be delivered by ourselves at RE:GEN Academy to provide you with hands-on experience and on the job training so you can put your skills straight to the test. With an end resultof gaining all relevant knowledge and training to be with the chance of progressing into a role at Extract North East Ltd.

This is a unique model that has been designed with our employers, to educate and attract vibrant talent into the sector. You will gain knowledge and qualifications in the construction and build environment. You will also be working towards gaining other certifications that are mandatory for the construction sector.

Additionally, if required, you will have the opportunity to work towards gaining your driving licence with 20 hours of FREE Driving Lessons as part of the programme 

Daily responsibilities:

As a trainee, you will begin learning cavity cleaning, before progressing on to insulation, lofts and wall ties which can provide you with several career opportunity routes. Working under supervision as your skill base increases you will undertake the following:

  • Removing failed insulation from properties before reinsulating
  • Drilling out a property to the required pattern
  • Removal of bricks at low level and high level
  • Using compressed air and cavity vacuums to remove all insulation /rubble
  • Re-instating brick work
  • Tidying up to a high standard
  • Explaining the process to customers
  • Learning how to conduct gas safety checks
  • Securing all essential ventilation to property
  • Making sure all photographs and paperwork filled in.

Requirements:

  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and follow instructions

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment

  • You must be 19+ due to Health & Safety Requirements

  • Drivers desirable however, if you do not drive, you must be able to get to the Seaham depo daily (7am start)

Salary & Benefits:

  • National Minimum wage to start – £12.21 per hour or £10 per hour (if 19 or 20)
