At RE:GEN Academy, we’re proud to celebrate the success stories that grow out of our Skills Bootcamps – and today we’re shining a spotlight on Josh Adozoukin, who recently completed our Route to Retrofit programme and has gone on to secure sustained employment as an Apprentice Plumbing and Heating Engineer.
Josh’s journey is a fantastic example of how upskilling can open the door to a brand-new career path.
Taking the Leap into a New Industry
Before joining the Skills Bootcamp, Josh worked in sales at EE for two years. While he was employed, he knew it wasn’t where his long-term future lay. “I quit the job to go through the course in hopes to get the job,” Josh explained. “I enjoyed learning new skills and being practical with the work experience.”
Josh discovered the Bootcamp through Indeed and saw it as the right opportunity to pursue his real passion: a hands-on, technical career in plumbing and heating.
Training, Qualifications, and Opportunities
Josh joined the Route to Retrofit Skills Bootcamp on 3rd March 2025. The course provided him with both technical knowledge and valuable work experience, preparing him for a seamless transition into employment.
“The highlights of the course were gaining all the qualifications and getting the job,” Josh said. “Gaining employment through the academy has given me a lifelong job with lots of opportunities. The bootcamp helped me a lot to pursue my desired career and made my work life and personal life a lot happier.”
Joining the RE:GEN Green Team
Just weeks after completing the programme, Josh started his new role on 5th June 2025 with RE:GEN Green as an Apprentice Plumbing and Heating Engineer.
Allan, from RE:GEN Green, shared why Josh stood out during recruitment:
“We chose Josh to join RE:GEN Green because he really applied himself throughout the recruitment process. He was eager to learn, engaged in all the right ways, and showed a genuine desire for the opportunity. He thoroughly prepared for his interview, arrived fully suited and booted, engaged confidently, asked insightful questions, and had clearly taken the time to learn about the business.”
Allan went on to praise Josh’s early contributions:
“Since starting with us, Josh has integrated seamlessly into the team. He has been enthusiastic, proactive, and willing to learn, completing a significant amount of training in a short space of time, particularly on the Byker kitchens and bathrooms. His positive attitude, fresh outlook, and ability to engage well with colleagues have earned him great feedback and made him a valued part of this developing team.”
Looking Ahead
Although Josh is only at the start of his career with RE:GEN Green, he is already thinking about the future: “I haven’t gained any extra qualifications yet, but I’ll be working towards it soon.”
When asked what he would say to anyone thinking of joining a Skills Bootcamp, his advice was clear:
“I would say go for it as I took the risk and it paid off, but it only pays off if you put the work in.”

Josh’s story is a brilliant reminder of the opportunities that our Skills Bootcamps can create. By taking the leap, retraining, and committing to the process, he has launched a fulfilling new career in a growing industry – while becoming a valued member of the team at RE:GEN Green.
