Are you looking to explore a career within the Construction Sector with a particular focus on Green Skills? Then look no further. We’ve got just the opportunity for you as a Trainee Asbestos Removal Operative.
Designed with one of our employer partners, this course will be delivered by ourselves at RE:GEN Academy to provide you with hands-on experience and on the job training so you can put your skills straight to the test. With an end result of gaining all relevant knowledge and training to be with the chance of progressing into a specialist role as a Licensed Asbestos Operative.
This is a unique model that has been designed with our employers, to educate and attract young vibrant talent into the sector and help you climb the career ladder. You will gain knowledge and qualifications specifically in Retrofit and Construction Green Skills which play a huge part in the role.
Duties include:
As an asbestos removal operative, you will be responsible for safely removing asbestos from renovation and demolition sites. You will need to work with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) licensed asbestos removal contractors. These organisations have to apply to the HSE for a licence to undertake work with asbestos in a tightly controlled environment.
The role of an asbestos removal operative involves the following duties::
- Building bespoke containment enclosures around the asbestos-containing material
- Safely removing, and disposing of, asbestos from ceilings, walls, boilers and more
- Using a variety of specialist equipment including airless sprayers and injection equipment
- Wearing specialist protective equipment including coveralls and a full face mask
- Showering in a decontamination unit at the end of each shift
- Working on industrial sites, in shops and offices, and people’s homes.
