Job Description

Are you looking to explore a career within the Construction Sector with a particular focus on Green Skills? Then look no further. We’ve got just the opportunity for you as a Licensed Asbestos Operative.

Designed with one of our employer partners, this course will be delivered by ourselves at RE:GEN Academy to provide you with hands-on experience and on the job training so you can put your skills straight to the test. With an end result of gaining all relevant knowledge and training to be with the chance of progressing into a specialist role as a Licensed Asbestos Operative.

 

This is a unique model that has been designed with our employers, to educate and attract young vibrant talent into the sector and help you climb the career ladder. You will gain knowledge and qualifications specifically in Retrofit and Construction Green Skills which play a huge part in the role.

Duties include:

As an Licensed Asbestos Operative, you will be responsible for safely removing asbestos from renovation and demolition sites in line with relevant legalisation and the companies specific requirements.

The role of an asbestos removal operative involves the following duties:

  • Building bespoke containment enclosures around the asbestos-containing material
  • Safely removing, and disposing of, asbestos from ceilings, walls, boilers and more
  • Using a variety of specialist equipment including airless sprayers and injection equipment
  • Wearing specialist protective equipment including coveralls and a full face mask
  • Showering in a decontamination unit at the end of each shift
  • Complete timesheets, job record sheets, weekly exposure registers, respirator checklists, and other relevant documentation and submit these on a weekly basis or earlier if necessary.
  • Working on industrial sites, in shops and offices, and people’s homes.

  • Able to work within Team and be able to work alone
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to adapt and deal with changing priorities related to their own workload and the company
  • Be pro-active and have a positive attitude
  • Be able to work in a confidential manner
  • Must be clean shaven due to Respiratory Protective Equipment worn.

Requirements:

If successful, you will be will be enrolled on the ACAD Specialist Apprenticeship Programme . The Specialist Apprenticeship Programme (SAP) is for new starters in the Licensed Asbestos industry who:

  • Have no previous construction apprenticeship
  • Are employed full time
  • Have less than a year’s experience
  • Applicants must be 19+ years of age to be eligible for this position.
