Job Description

Are you looking to explore a career within the Construction Sector? Then look no further. We’ve got just the opportunity for you as a Trainee Groundworker (Self Employed). Designed with our employer partner, this course will be delivered by
ourselves at RE:GEN Academy to provide you with hands-on experience and on the job training so you can put your skills straight to the test. With an end result of gaining all relevant knowledge and training to be with the chance of progressing into a self-employed role working on contracts with our employer partner.

This is a unique model that has been designed with our employers, to educate and attract vibrant talent into the sector. You will gain knowledge and qualifications in the construction and build environment. You will also be working towards gaining other certifications that are mandatory for the construction sector and be supported in to setting up as self-employed.

Additionally, if required, you will have the opportunity to work towards gaining your driving licence with 20 hours of FREE Driving Lessons as part of the programme.

Duties include:

This CIS role is perfect for inexperienced individuals looking to start their career in Groundworks. Duties of a Trainee Groundworker include:
• Clearing a construction site before work begins
• Removing site vegetation and planting new vegetation
• Sorting and laying site drainage
• Laying site foundations and footpaths
• Constructing driveways
• Attending to concrete and curb laying
• Setting up and taking down the construction site before and after a project
• Operating plant machinery for excavation
• Adding the finishing touches to any ground surfaces

 

Requirements:

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Good Communication skills and able to work with others
• Strong attention to detail
• Good problem-solving skills
• A high degree of physical fitness
• The ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Basic numeracy skills for precision measuring
• The ability to understand construction blueprints
• Safety awareness before and as you’re performing a job
• Excellent critical thinking skills so you can overcome project obstacles

Salary:

  • £12PH aged 21+, £9PH aged 19-20.

It is important to remember when applying for this role that being a Trainee Groundworker can be physically demanding. The ideal candidate must be positive and respectful as this can be a customer-facing role.
