Job Description

 Are you looking to explore a career within the Construction Sector? Then look no further. We’ve got just the opportunity for you as a Trainee Electrician(Self Employed).

Designed with our employer partner Solar EV North, this course will be delivered by ourselves at RE:GEN Academy to provide you with hands-on experience and on the job training so you can put your skills straight to the test. With an end resultof gaining all relevant knowledge and training to be with the chance of progressing into a self-employed role working on contracts with Solar EV North.

This is a unique model that has been designed with our employers, to educate and attract vibrant talent into the sector. You will gain knowledge and qualifications in the construction and build environment. You will also be working towards gaining other certifications that are mandatory for the construction sector and be supported in to setting up as self-employed.

Additionally, if required, you will have the opportunity to work towards gaining your driving licence with 20 hours of FREE Driving Lessons as part of the programme 

Daily responsibilities:

Working on sites across the Northeast we are looking for individuals to join our team who wish to kickstart their career in Construction. Duties include:

Support qualified installers in fitting solar PV systems –from mounting panels to DC/AC wiring and inverter set up.

  • Learn to use safety gear: harnesses for roof work, ladder protocols, PPE
  • Assist with cable routing through lofts and wall penetrations
  • Observe and participate in post install testing and certification
  • Develop customer facing skills—explain system operation, answer basic queries
  • Participate in on-the-job training and formal development sessions

 

Requirements:

  • Basic electrical / roofing knowledge or equivalent hands-on experience would be a benefit but not essential

  • Willingness to work at heights, follow strict H&S rules, and travel regionally

  • Motivation to grow into a certified installer—ideally aiming for NVQ Level 3 and 18th Edition qualifications down the line

  • Good communication, reliability

  • Clean UK driving licence –preferred however not essential. However, if you do not drive, you must have a clear path to pass your driving test within the probation period.

  • Over 19 (as of August 2024) to be eligible

Salary:

  • £12.21PH aged 21+, £10PH aged 19-20to start with

It is important to remember when applying for this role that being a Trainee Electrician can be physically demanding. The ideal candidate must be positive and respectful as this can be a customer-facing role.
